A look back on our past shop deck graphics

Enter The UNLTD Time Capsule

UNLTD has been proudly serving the Bow Valley for almost 30 years. For much of that time, we’ve been slapping our name on skate decks — sometimes proudly, sometimes absurdly — and watching them roll out into the world under the feet of locals, visitors, and shop rats turned lifers. No idea was too wild... we've launched inside jokes, obscure local references and probably tip toed on the line of copyright infringement.

Whether you were skating them, collecting them, or just laughing at them, these boards became a visual diary of who we are. Our graphic history isn’t polished. It’s loud, playful, and weird — just how we like it.

With the release of our newest shop deck, Spood — we’re taking a moment to look back on some of our most iconic, irreverent, and downright strange graphics of the last 15 years.

"GREETINGS"

Banff attracts a plethora of talented artists so we thought we should do a collab. After a quick hunt into the archives we found a very rough draft of a concept by UNLTD legend, Ryan Belder. A childlike bird-flipping graphic, equal parts juvenile and genius, we knew it had to be immortalized on a deck.

Circa 2016ish

"The Boss"

This isn't just any bear, it's bear #122 AKA "The Boss" - a notorious 700lb local legend, known for fathering heaps of cubs and surviving train strikes. When he's not spreading his genetic seed, he's sometimes playing model for Banff Nature and Wildlife Photographer Amar Athwal.

Statue Series

High art meets high chaos as our mascot shows off his classical side, or at least poses like it. The thinker is deep in existential dread about bolt placement while Rio Christ Air holds a skateboard from the divine. Iconic.

What doe these graphics have in common?

  1. A bear chasing a cop chasing a sasquatch
  2. A lightning blasted UNLTD logo
  3. A happy sasquatch on fire

Nothing. They have nothing in common, except that they were created by the same illustrator & all slapped on UNLTD decks. True story.

"Spood" Deck

Is it a spider? Is it a spoon? Is it a typo? We may never know. But we do know the concept was fueled by expired Red Bull in a dark corner of the UNLTD basement and printed using forbidden haunted ink. It's got that B.A.E .....Big Arachnid Energy.

These decks aren’t just for skating — they’re little slices of UNLTD history. They tell stories from our community, our weird ideas, our love for the Bow Valley, and our obsession with doing things differently.

Whether you bought one to ride, hang, or hoard, thanks for being part of the story. If you've got one, tag us at @UNLTDBoardshop and show us your piece of the archive.
