Grom to Great: Dane Menzies

If you’ve been around the shop long enough, you’ve seen it happen: the little kid with too-big boots and a bigger smile who won’t stop talking about boards? Give them a few years, and boom — they’re spinning 7s, winning contests, filming parts, and putting the rest of us to shame.

We’re proud to have supported many young riders over the years — giving them their first shop tees, and a place to feel like part of something. Some just came through for a season. Some never left. A few went full beast mode. Enter UNLTD golden boy Dane Menzies.

Snowboarder, singer, kayaker, fine food connoisseur, these are just a few of the things that come to mind when we think of Daner.

Dane's Roots

Our boy Dane Menzies was born in Calgary, Alberta in 2005. His Kiwi father and Canadian mama were tickled to introduce the kid to skiing at the tender age of 3 at Sunshine Village. He quickly learned better and ditched the sticks for a board by age 5 and never bothered looking back.

He began training at Winsport in Calgary and quickly became the kid to watch. Proudly repping UNLTD since before we can remember.

@Dane.Sings

Since then he’s been putting in nothing but work. Laying down massive tricks on his board while making us laugh with a personal vocal touch on many of his videos as @dane.sings...The songbird of our generation.

These days, he represents New Zealand in Slopestyle and Big Air disciplines and competes on the world stage as @dane.menzies a true professional of the sport.

Just gettin' warmed up.

Dane's Goal List from Winter 2024/2025

First X Games for Dane

Dane has always wanted to secure an invite at X Games and he got that chance in 2026.

Competing in Slopestyle, Dane battled with extreme flat light conditions along the likes of Mark McMorris, Markus Cleveland and Red Gerard, putting down a beautiful rail line (that switch backlip was insane!). Though he wasn't able to snag a podium finish, we were so proud to watch him & know we will be seeing him more at X Games in the future.

Dane got a taste of his first world cup podium, clinching a third place finish in slopestyle Aspen. With a damn near flawless rail line and two stomped 1620's on his first and best run, Dane impressed the judges with a 83.68 score that took third.
